Single Syllable

Okay, this might be unique to me, but have any of you noticed an odd occurance when people say your name?

It started in high school, I noticed that my teachers would go down the list: "Jennifer, Heather, Brian, Mariah, Peter, Molly, etc." But when they got to my name, they said both my first and last name: "Anne Scott."

In college, the same thing happened to me, I wasn't just Anne, I was "Anne Scott." There were no other Annes in my schools, no reason to emphasis my last name.

My theory is that with a single syllable name, folks prefer to use the last name too.

What do y'all think?

You know, I never really noticed that as an issue with me--perhaps because my Maiden name was longer--two syllable? Maybe the one syllable first and last name work beter than a One syllable first name and two syllable last name???? Or myabe it's just that 'Anne Scott' has a nice ring to it?

people like to use my middle name in conjuction with Anne. As a result, I don't tell them what it is, and if I do, ask very politely to call me Anne, please. Using my middle name reminds me of when I was in trouble with my parents! :)

That's funny--the very first time that I made out with a boy--he kept asking 'what's your middle name?' very passionately--kind of weird, but now that I read your post, I am starting to wonder if it was because my name wasn't 'good enough' or 'romantic enough' to say while in the thrall of passion!--whatever!
        It was weird anyways.
